Public art commissions delivered for EDQ as part of priority development area placemaking strategies across South East Queensland.
Placemaking through public art.
Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) engaged Vast Yonder to deliver public art commissions within priority development areas across South East Queensland. These commissions formed part of EDQ's broader placemaking strategy, using art to activate emerging precincts and build community identity in developing urban areas.
The program recognised that public art is a critical tool for placemaking in new development areas — creating cultural anchors that attract visitors, build community pride and establish a sense of place from the earliest stages of precinct development.
Scope & delivery.
Vast Yonder delivered the full commission pipeline from artist curation and concept development through to installation, working closely with EDQ's planning and engagement teams to ensure works aligned with precinct master plans and community engagement strategies.
The partnership demonstrated Vast Yonder's capability in working with state government agencies on strategic placemaking projects that use public art to shape the identity and liveability of developing communities.
